| Resumo | This work evaluate the technique FORTRACC (Forecast and Track of Active Cloud Cluster) for use with radar images and analyzes the parameters Vertically Integrated Liquid (VIL), VIL Density (DVIL), maximum vertical reflectivity, height of the maximum reflectivity and height of the 45 dBZ level above 0ºC and creat an severity index. Severe weather was defined as any meteorological event that caused some type of damage surface as hail, gust or floods, inside of the area 150 km covering radar. System FORTRACC was adapted to follow rain structures above of threshold 10 kg m-2 in order to identify the structures most active in the fields of VIL and 20 dBZ (height of 3 km) in fields of reflectivity. The FORTRACC-VIL and FORTRACC-dBZ, have a better resolution (2x2 km2) compared to FORTRACC-satellite (4x4 km2), to track the rapid growth of initial structures precipitating showing a growth of approximately 500x10-6s-1 and 600x10-6s-1 in accordance with time of initial cycle of life. 10 selected cases of severe weather had been considered as control data and 10 cases had been used to test the parameters. Using as threshold the found minum values for the control parameters, got an index of equal or bigger 90%, as observed with the test data. |
